Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 October 2026.
These terms govern your use of KontextNews, operated by Alexandru Mihail Cîrstea, trading as Codex Neuralis, Darmstadt, Germany ("we"). By using the service you accept these terms.
1. The service
KontextNews provides a news intelligence API: structured articles, events, entities and search over sources worldwide. Access requires an account and an API key.
2. Accounts and keys
- You are responsible for keeping your API key secret. Keys are shown once and stored hashed.
- You must not share keys outside your organisation or embed them in client-side code.
- We may revoke keys that abuse the service or breach these terms.
3. Acceptable use
- No illegal use, and no use that infringes the rights of sources or third parties.
- No redistribution of the data below the Enterprise plan. Lower tiers are for internal use and for products that link back to the source.
- No use of the API to build or train a competing news-aggregation dataset, and no circumvention of rate limits or quotas.
4. Plans, billing and VAT
- Plans are billed monthly in EUR through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled.
- Prices may be shown excluding VAT; where VAT applies it is added at checkout based on your country.
- You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
5. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)
If you are a consumer in the EU, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. By subscribing and accessing the digital service immediately, you consent to performance starting at once and acknowledge that you lose the withdrawal right once the service is fully performed.
6. Availability and warranties
The service is provided "as is". We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service except where an SLA is agreed (Enterprise). Sources are third-party content; we do not warrant their accuracy.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
8. Intellectual property
We do not claim ownership of the source content. Each item links back to its source. The KontextNews structure, API and software are ours.
9. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms or for abuse.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Place of jurisdiction is Darmstadt, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
